Supporting good causes

The original founders of The Really Big Chorus wanted from the outset to draw in another charity to benefit from the generosity of the huge numbers of people attending ‘from Scratch’ concerts. Finding the right partner is not easy, since the benefiting charity must have a sufficiently developed infrastructure to be able to field adequate numbers of volunteers and attract advertising and sponsorship. We have a strong relationship with the British Heart Foundation dating from 1980, and we supported the Leukaemia Research Fund for 15 years, co-operating more recently with the Alzheimer’s Society.

Wherever possible, our trips abroad also seek to raise funds for a local charity, and these have included the Children in Danger Foundation in Prague, and Nazareth House in Cape Town which cares for HIV-positive orphans.
