THE  SCRATCH® GRANADA GALA

Auditorio Manuel de Falla, Granada

Details for singers

Music for the concert in Granada is readily available, either from your local music shop, directly from the publishers, or from Music Dynamics by telephone (0845 304 5070 and ask to speak to David) or via their website.  Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy has several publishers; we will sing this in German, and any edition with German text will be suitable. Carmina Burana is published by Schott, and both the old and the new editions are acceptable (there may be differences in the pagination).

Membership of The Really Big Chorus qualifies you for a 10 per cent discount from Music Dynamics on vocal scores, ChoraLine rehearsal CDs and MP3 downloads. If you are buying online, simply type SCRATCH into the discount box on the shopping basket page; if you ring and speak to David, just mention that you are buying your score for a Concerts from Scratch performance.

Chorus instructions are now available here (opens in a new window), and you are asked to copy these into your scores to save rehearsal time when we get to Granada.  Please be diligent about doing your homework, and come to Granada with all the notes learnt to the best of your ability.

To avoid an over-long programme, and bearing in mind we will not be able to field the huge number of singers we normally do at the Royal Albert Hall, we will omit the heavily divisi numbers 8, 12, 19 and 20 from Carmina.  The remaining movements still give the tenors and basses a great sing, however, so please encourage your male-voice friends to join you on this trip.  Midway through the booking period we will be taking a close look at the balance of voices, and may be obliged to restrict soprano and alto numbers while the tenors and basses catch up.  If you book late, and want to be sure of a place, book with a tenor!

The Auditorio Manuel de Falla is a formal concert hall, so the most likely dress code will be long black for ladies and DJs for men.  We will post more information on this page once we have visited the hall and spoken to their management team.  You might like to wear one of our TRBC polo shirts for rehearsals, and you can download an order-form here.
