Award-winning British pianist Maria Marchant is much in demand as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician since giving her Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre debuts in 2010 to critical acclaim. She performs regularly for numerous festivals and music societies including the Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Cheltenham International Music Festival, Shipley Arts Festival, Steyning Festival, Beethoven Piano Society of Europe, Bishop Auckland Music Society, City of Music Society, Darlington Piano Society and the Harris Music Club.
Maria studied at Trinity College of Music and the Royal College of Music, where she gained the MMus in Advanced Piano Performance as an RCM scholar. Accepted as an artist on the Concordia Foundation, Park Lane Group and Tillett Trust schemes, Maria’s many competition successes include winning the Gold Medal and First Prize in the International Hindemith Competition, Berlin. She is a passionate advocate of British music and many of her concerts are sponsored by the John Ireland Trust.
Chamber music performance highlights include a Radio 3 recording with the BBC Symphony Chorus and O Duo in addition to a performance with acclaimed baritone Roderick Williams. Maria’s concerto repertoire includes concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Finzi, Gershwin, Grieg, Ireland, Mozart, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Ravel and she has recorded on several occasions for BBC Radio 3.
