The Scratch® Choral Cruise
to the Iberian Penisular
The Scratch autumn cruise to Spain and Portugal was huge fun in spite of the fact that it did not go according to Fred Olsen’s plan. Our music-making, under the direction of Brian Kay, was unaffected, but inhospitable seas forced our captain (‘all is well from the bridge…’) to turn the ship about after we had set sail south from La Coruña and to head back along the north coast of Spain—we never came within sight of Oporto or Lisbon!
Music studied during the cruise:
Haydn: Te Deum for the Empress Marie Therese
Comp. Peter Gritton: Encores for Choirs (Book 1)
