THE SCRATCH® MOZART REQUIEM
Royal Albert Hall
Mendelssohn: Overture The Hebrides
Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor
Our Mozart and Mendelssohn concert attracted both singers and audience in large numbers. Mozart’s Requiem is a crowd-pleaser whether you are singing or listening, but the first half of the concert also drew lengthy applause, especially for the young English violinist Savitri Grier, making her Royal Albert Hall debut. So keen was everyone to discover more about her that there was a rush on programmes during the interval, and the British Heart Foundation sold out completely!
The soloists in Mozart’s Requiem were Robyn Allegra Parton (soprano),Catherine Hopper (mezzo-soprano), Ben Thapa (tenor) and Ashley Riches (bass-baritone). The English Festival Orchestra was led by Adrian Levine, and the whole concert was directed by Jonathan Willcocks.
