Details for singers
Vocal scores. You need to bring your own music as it will not be possible to purchase scores on the day. We use the Prout edition of Messiah, published by Novello, although other editions may be compatible. If your local music shop cannot help, then the extremely knowledgeable staff at Blackwell’s Music Shop in Oxford will certainly be able to do so.
Learning the music. You must know Messiah before you come as there is no rehearsal. Chorus instructions for this concert can be downloaded here (opens in a new window) and will be sent automatically to anyone whose booking application included a stamped-addressed envelope. We will also send further copies when we post your tickets. If you want to listen to your individual vocal line while out and about, or while following the score from your armchair, then a rehearsal CD or an MP3 download from ChoraLine is just what you need.
Rehearsals. There aren’t any – that’s what makes it so exciting! But please be sure to be in your seats at least ten minutes before the start time of 7.00pm.
Dress for the concert. This should be elegant. Sopranos wear something including mid-blue and Altos something with bright red. Men should wear dinner jackets or dark suits with a black bow-tie.
