New events for 2027

Uncategorized

New events for 2027 are now flagged on the front page of our website, and on our Facebook page.  Here are some more details.

TRBC Choral Summer School (9–14 August 2027)

When we announced that the 2024 TRBC Choral Summer School would be our last, there was widespread disappointment. You overwhelmed us with letters and emails begging us to reverse the decision and we eventually bowed to the pressure. A big ‘thank you’ to those who endorsed our decision by instantly responding to the recent announcement on Facebook – great stuff!

Our accommodation will be at Bath Spa University – not the same as Bath University, where we stayed in 2022. We will study Verdi’s Requiem and perform in Bath Abbey with the Bath Philharmonia, using the full orchestration. The familiar music team of Brian Kay (conductor) and Chris Finch (repetiteur) will be in charge, and full details will be available in the autumn. In the meantime, please complete this Google form to register your interest: https://forms.gle/d8s8Jz2rX8aX1VE89. This will help us to gauge the level of interest and inform our conversations with Bath Spa University.

Messiah in Luxembourg (14–18 October 2027)
The British-Luxembourg Society has invited us to join them in a concert to celebrate their 80th anniversary in 2027. We jumped at the chance, and will jointly promote a gala performance of Messiah in the Philharmonie in October 2027. Brian Kay will conduct, with the Chamber Orchestra of Luxembourg and soloists from the UK. We expect to field around 100 singers from each country and will need to ensure that this is a balanced choir. An appeal to tenors and basses: you all know Messiah, so please sign up as soon as booking opens.

Together with Specialised Travel, we still have many details to sort out, so we won’t have more news for a while. However, you can register your interest immediately via this link: Messiah in Luxembourg – Register interest.

We are constantly discussing new choral opportunities, so keep an eye on our website and news pages. You can also sign up to join our mailing list and receive our email newsletter, sent around four times each year. Membership of the mailing list also gives you access, via this website, to the Royal Albert Hall to book singing seats for Messiah from Scratch®. See previous post for ticket availability.

Messiah: sold out?

Uncategorized

Messiah 2026 is showing on the RAH bookings page as sold out for both singers and audience. However, if you are still hoping to join us on 8th November, there are a few options: please see below.

Seats returned by Debenture Holders (Members).
If RAH Members do not want their seats, they can return them at any time directly to the Hall for resale. Tickets may therefore suddenly become available in the Stalls (audience seats) and in Boxes. If a returned Box falls within the Main Singing Area, the RAH may label it a Mixed Singing Box: suitable for any voice and/or audience.  Any RAH Members seats remaining unclaimed by the Member at five weeks prior to the performance are automatically put on sale. So we can expect a flurry of available seats for Messiah from Scratch® at the beginning of October.

Standing places in the Gallery.
There are still standing places available in the Gallery for audience. We have noticed singers there in the past, but it’s a long way up and we don’t recommended it …

Make a request via our Facebook Group.
This is an excellent forum for exchanging unwanted tickets and for the general sharing of information. To post messages, apply to join the group and answer three questions to prove you are not a robot. Visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/110013771544 to see more.

Use the Twickets platform.
The RAH recommends this ticket re-selling platform where tickets are sold at their face value plus a very small admin fee.  To see what’s available, visit https://www.twickets.live/en/uk and type Messiah from Scratch into the black search box.

Final note.
In their panic to get tickets during the unfortunate chaos which followed the booking launch, some people may have bought seats in the wrong voice area. Please do your best to resell or swap these, using either our Facebook Group or Twickets as detailed above. Singing alto from among the sopranos, or tenor from among the altos, will not give you the best experience! If you are not sure where the boundaries are between the voice parts, check page 4 of our booking information leaflet:  https://www.trbc.co.uk/wp2/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Booking-leaflet-new-date.pdf . You can enlarge this to see more clearly where the voice parts begin and end.
