Details for singers

Vocal Scores.  Please bring your own copies of the music, and learn your part as well as you can before you join the trip. The programme comprises two choral works: Haydn’s Nelson Mass (Missa in Angustiis) is published by Novello; Sing!, the choral version of Widor’s famous Toccata arranged by Sir David Willcocks especially for The Really Big Chorus, is published by OUP (ISBN: 978-0-19-350493-6).  Blackwell’s Music Shop can supply vocal scores (01865 333582; email printed.music@blackwell.co.uk), and rehearsal material (CDs/MP3 files of your own vocal line) is available from ChoraLine.

Learning the music. There will be limited rehearsal time in Riga as we want you to be able to see the sights as well, so all singers are strongly urged to do their homework in advance and arrive at the first rehearsal having learnt the music to the best of their ability. The more practice you manage to put in at home, the better you will enjoy the experience.  As well as the rehearsal CDs mentioned above we have compiled a page of chorus instructions which we ask you to study in conjunction with your scores. Download these here (includes all details for the trip; will print as an 8-page A5 booklet if your printer permits).

Concert and dress. Details are included in the final musical details; click here to download these (see note above about printing). Our colour-coded polo shirts are not suitable wear for the concert, but you can always wear one at rehearsals, or engender local interest by wearing them around Riga.  If you don’t yet have one, you can download an order-form here.
