Messiah from Scratch® 2024

Sunday 10 November 2024, 7.00 pm

Stop Press: all seats for Altos in the main singing area are already sold out, as are audience seats in the Arena. Singers should book for the Circle, or tick the box to allow us to substitute other seats (leave the amount of your cheque blank or use a credit card). Audience should similarly book with us for the Circle, or telephone the Royal Albert Hall (020 7589 8212) for returned debenture-holder seats in the Stalls, or book online for standing places in the Gallery:

Over the past 50 years, hundreds of thousands of singers (and a few thousand audience members) have flocked to the Royal Albert Hall in the weeks leading up to Christmas for a unique performance of Handel’s Messiah. This is Messiah from Scratch®, where the singers outnumber the audience, often  by three to one. It is a brilliant, festive occasion which fills every available seat in the Royal Albert Hall.

The performance is genuinely ‘from Scratch’ with no rehearsal for the singers, and the result is simply superb, time and time again: a wonderful adrenaline-filled performance which has everyone – singers and audience – leaving the Hall on an amazing high. Come to sing or to listen: follow the links at the foot of this page for more details.

If you’ve always wanted to conduct at the Royal Albert Hall, this might be your chance. We are auctioning, to the highest bidder, the opportunity to conduct an extra performance of the Hallelujah Chorus immediately after the interval, with all proceeds going directly to the British Heart Foundation.

Never mind the details – take me straight to the booking form! (opens in a new window)

Participating singers: download chorus notes for 2024 (opens in a new window).

Mozart’s Requiem is one of the best loved pieces in the choral repertoire. The exquisite music, by turns dramatic, pleading, consoling and reflective, never fails in its appeal to singers and audiences alike.

You can take part as a singer (rehearsals are at 12 noon and 3.30 pm) or join the audience for this concert which includes more Mozart in the shape of the popular serenade Eine kleine Nachtmusik and the 3rd Horn Concerto played by acclaimed soloist Ben Goldscheider. Booking details here.

Programmes at this concert will be sold in aid of The Royal Society of Musician of Great Britain (opens in a new window/tab).

More information via the links below.

Audience: Tickets are currently available from us, via our booking form. As soon as booking opens at the Royal Albert Hall, we will post details here (all audience tickets purchased via the Hall are subject to a booking fee unless you visit the Box Office in person).
