A section of the cloisters of the magnificent Basilica Sant Francesc in Palma

30 March–2 April 2017

Palma de Mallorca

This event lived up to its name, with an idyllic location, gorgeous weather, terrific soloists and a fantastic and enthusiastic young orchestra (Orquestra de Cambra de Mallorca). The chorus was pretty good, too, although another hour or so on the Rutter Requiem would have given us all extra confidence.

Brian Kay was clearly delighted with the weekend: ‘Mallorca was so lovely, and proved to be a terrific venue for a TRBC trip – hugely helped by the gorgeous weather. There was some really good singing, and the usual high spirits seemed to prevail. The orchestra was an absolute joy to work with – such wonderfully youthful enthusiasm – and we were blessed with two beautifully matched soloists in Nardus Williams and Marta Fontanals-Simmons.’

In keeping with our aim to support good causes, this event raised over £1,000 towards the restoration of the basilica roof.
