Singing in Spain should conjure up lovely warm thoughts as frost and chill grips the United Kingdom. This is therefore a good moment to decide to join us for ‘Sing the Costa del Sol’ in March. We have excellent hotel accommodation in Málaga, with an evening concert in Fuengirola – a short drive along the coast.
The weather can only be a huge improvement on the UK. Also, Andalusia’s Cruz Roja – the Spanish Red Cross – are assuring our singers of a very warm welcome. This hard-working charity will benefit from all the ticket receipts from our concert, money which they will channel to their local relief work. They have a keen following and are almost guaranteeing us a sell-out for our concert on Friday 14 March.
The music we are singing is also decidedly upbeat. Haydn’s Te Deum for the Empress Marie Therese never fails to put a smile on everyone’s face, while Mozart’s Coronation Mass is one of his sunniest choral works. Conductor Sam Evans will put us through our paces, and skilfully transform a random collection of singers into a disciplined choir.
With sun and smiles all round, singing in Spain 12–15 March promises to be an excellent first overseas foray in 2025 for members of The Really Big Chorus. Tenors and basses will, of course, be especially welcome. We may have to turn altos away unless you are accompanied by a singing man!
